Unleash the power of adult stem cells

Never before has there been such an incredible rate of progress in science and medicine with the promise to improve health. Adult stem cells have the potential to rescue tissues and organs that have been injured from disease. But, this life-giving and life-enhancing gift from our own bodies is being needlessly delayed. Minimal education efforts and public policy debates focused upon embryonic stem cells has led many to assume that all stem cell research is limited to the ethically troubling use of stem cells from embryos. To unleash the healing power of adult stem cell treatments, we’ve created the Cell Therapy Foundation with a three-fold mission to:  foster healthy public awareness, increase research funding and improve collaboration among leading adult stem cell researchers.

 
Adult stem cells are within each of us
We all have them. Adult stem cells exist within every human body and hold the untapped potential to rescue tissues and organs that have been injured by disease. These cells can be collected from excess fat, bone marrow, hair follicles, dental pulp, skeletal muscle and other sources. Cord blood provides yet another source of adult stem cells; these cells have been successfully used to treat many conditions. Scientists are perfecting the ability to prepare donated stem cells to be injected into patients to repair damaged and diseased tissue.

Proven success 
It’s already working. Research from adult stem cells has already produced successful therapies for certain cancers. The clinical applications of adult stem cells are years ahead of embryonic stem cell research; however, the true healing power of adult stem cells has yet to be fully realized because of insufficient funding.

New Web-based network to accelerate research 
We’re pushing the research forward. To accelerate the communication among scientists, the rate of progress of active clinical trials and the rate of patients’ enrollment into clinical trials; we’ve created the new Web-based Adult Stem Cell Research (ASCR) Network. The www.ascrnetwork.org is a resource for patients to find clinical trials and review the latest news articles on adult stem cell research. It also promotes global collaboration among the leading adult stem cell laboratories which include sites in Brazil, France, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden and the USA.

Together we can achieve more
We need your help. Funding for adult stem cell research is disproportionally low because the need to support this research is overshadowed by the embryonic stem cell debate. With your support, we can unleash the healing power of these amazing cells  and provide hope for the future treatment of such debilitating diseases as cancer, heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, diabetes, stroke, neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, and numerous others.
